My contribution to Kate's 80s contest- my third grade picture.
This is probably about as 80s style of a picture as I've got- big hair, bright pink dress with shoulder pads, puffy sleeves, a ruffle at the hips, and a black "skirt" bottom. Plus, you have to love the hip neon lights through the blinds background.
I know I have a picture somewhere of me dressed for a New Kids on the Block concert back in 1990. I think I have the band t-shirt tied on one side which may or may not be the same side that my ponytail was on. I know I'm wearing my favorite shorts- knee length, acid washed, and tye-dyed blue and pink. I'm wearing several different sizes of band buttons and may be wearing my silver cowboy hat with the new kids bandana. Of course I'm wearing my white keds with 2 pairs of scrunchy socks and big bright plastic earrings. I was so happening.
You were adorable! Hey if the doubling up on socks thing comes back think of how happy all the sock knitters will be!!
Your picture looks great!
I totally forgot about the layered scrunchy sock look! Oh my. I used to do that, too.
Rad pic! ;-)
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. :) I loved the scrunchy socks.
Eeew, I did the double socks thing, too. And we wore them with those weird leather Candie's sneakers that were high tops, but very flat soles, and they had dots punched out all over.
Oh, and I can't believe no one has mentioned Swatches. Did you have a scratch-and-sniff Swatch?
Look how cute!
Only in the 80's would we put shoulder pads on a third grader! hee hee, gotta love those old pictures.
