I finally bought some size 11 dpns today so that I could start on this, my latest charity project.
Here's the bed so far.
I'm using a strand of Kureyon and Patons Classic Wool held together. After my partial skein of Noro runs out, I'll just be using two strands of Classic Wool. There isn't any spare eyelash yarn in my stash, so I'll just get that when I have a better idea of how this bed will look.

Here are Blanket Statement squares 18-27.
My goal is to have 50 of these finished by the end of October.

I finally finished a scarf from the Cloverleaf Farms yarn I purchased back in May at MS&W. I don't know what the yardage was- I used the whole skein- and now have a scarf which touches the floor if it's not wrapped. Even wrapped twice, it's still pretty long.
We're 25 weeks along, only 102 more days until January 8th.

More Secret Pal Surprises
A big thank you goes out to my secret pal. I just received her latest package. Here are all of the goodies inside, designed to help our family prepare for the new baby.
She sent a onesie, overalls, a fathering book, a little baby book of poems and lullabies, a children's book and a Sesame Street video about getting a new sibling, and some fun yarn.
Thank you so much for thinking of me and my family.

Moving to a new place definitely brings changes. For instance, I used to knit around the big table at Knit Happens while Charlotte sat in the next chair coloring. Well, Charlotte and I are still coloring and knitting, but the table has become a bit smaller.
A new house also brings new hiding places.
We don't have anything stored in this cabinet yet because it's deep and skinny with a half shelf. The awkward size doesn't bother Charlotte though.
She fits in just right, and the shelf keeps her toys nearby.

Today was my glucose test at the doctor's office, so I couldn't eat or drink anything but a gross sugar drink this morning. Not the most exciting start to my birthday, but at least all of the baby news was good. My iron and sugar levels are great, and the baby is growing right on schedule.
We celebrated with both my family and Michael's family this weekend, so I actually had my third cake today.
After this week, Charlotte may think we always sing and blow out candles when we have cake.
The recipe for this Heath Bar cake is from a Girl Scouts cake bake off. It's one of my favorite deserts and has been made many times over the years. Keep going if you want to make one for yourself.

Naptime
Naptime at our house has definitely become a family event. Initially, I'm in my bed, Charlotte is in her bed, and the cats are camped out in a sunny window sill. By the time I get up, Charlotte is sleeping on my shoulder, one cat is sleeping on my stomach, and the other is on my feet. (Resting pregnant women must excert some kind of gravitational pull on everyone else in the house.) Unfortunately, naptime with mommy has led Charlotte to want bedtime in mommy and daddy's bed as well. Over the last week, we've had the following schedule.
9:00 PM- Charlotte goes to sleep in her nice toddler bed.
2:30 AM- Charlotte wakes up, asks for juice, and wants to sleep in our bed.
She starts out little and not taking up much room, but by the time we get up, she's sprawled across the bed, with her feet digging in someone's back.
We are working on keeping her in her bed all night; it's just a slow process.
Don't forget to set your VCRs tomorrow. Chris and Caryn (of Knit Happens fame) will be on TLC's Perfect Proposal. The show airs at 1 PM.

From what we've heard so far, the latest hurricane is just going to bring us some wind and rain. We're actually leaving tomorrow morning to visit family in GA, so we should miss most of the bad weather.
It may have been due to the impending bad weather, but my first Alabama knitting meetup was a bust. No one else showed. Since it was at Barnes and Noble, I did get to check out the new Yarn Girls book for kid knitting. While none of the patterns blew me away, I found most everything in the book to be be a quick knit that my children would get a lot of wear out of.

Gifts
I received my order from Adagio Teas today. Phyl Phyl was kind enough to send me a gift certificate which went toward a tea pitcher and green tea sampler set.
Thank you Phyllis!
I have some birthdays coming up, so I've been knitting away on novelty scarves. Here are the first two.
Both of these were made garter stitching Brazilia PomPon and Lion Brand Imagine on size 15 needles.

Baby Blanket
During GA Tech's miraculous win on Saturday, I started on our little boy's baby blanket.
I'm using the Big Bad Baby Blanket pattern and Venice yarn from Passport Yarn Co.
The new Knitty came out on Friday, and I am love with the Leo sweater. This would be gorgeous for Mike.

Sorry for the lack of knitting content this week, but it has been miserably hot around here. Luckily the HVAC guys came today, and the house is feeling much cooler.
While the air was being fixed, Charlotte and I spent some time at the cool, air-conditioned mall. Charlotte didn't think getting new clothes was very exciting until the sales lady gave her some stickers. (When you're this cute who could resist giving you stickers?)
She had a lot more fun visiting the playground after lunch, but her favorite part of the afternoon was eating the elmo and cookie monster cookies we bought at the cookie stand.
(When you're this cute, mommy can't resist letting you get a couple of cookies either.)

Laboring the Weekend Away
We had a very busy Labor Day weekend. I cleared out all of the questionable foliage from our front flowerbed and planted mums for the fall, while Michael assembled some computers. Charlotte of course helped with everything. Here's our nice and tidy flowerbed.
And while she wasn't helping Michael and me, Charlotte was very busy adding to my cleaning list.
She took all of the clean washcloths, and used them to cover up her baby for nap time. This was after she removed the clean towels from the bathroom, but before she emptied the tupperware drawer. I'm having a hard time keeping up.
We spent Monday at the Botanical Gardens for the last day of Waterworks. Charlotte had fun splashing around and visiting all of the butterflies. She even got to see the turtles that live in the butterfly house pond. (Normally they're hiding in the water, but this time there were two resting on a rock.)
We also visited the DMV this weekend to get our new licenses. I'm sad to say we are now officially Alabama residents. On a positive note, the wait time allowed me to finish some more blanket statement squares. Here are squares 13-17.

Thank You Secret Pal!
Do you like the new design? It's courtesy of my awesome and talented secret pal! Isn't it great?! Charlotte is even in the banner! In case you couldn't tell, I was very excited to find this surprise in my inbox this morning. Thank you secret pal for such an impressive gift!
